The New Forest Pony
The New Forest Pony descended from “The New Forest” a 122 km2 area of unenclosed land in Southern England. The English New Forest registration began in 1906 by “The New Forest pony Breeding & Cattle Society” but the breed is far older than that.
The New Forest pony is renowned world wide for it outstanding temper, its will to work and its native virtues of intelligence, strength and agility. They are easy to handle and quick to learn. They have the qualities to compete at the highest levels nationally and internationally and they make an ideal friend for children.
The New Forest ponies are found in many sizes. Its upper height limit is 148cm. There is no lower limit. They are found in many colours except skewbald, piebald and blue-eyed cream. Palomino is only acceptable as fillies or geldings.
